Frequently Asked Questions

Etegent Name Change Q&A

  1. Why are you changing your name?
  2. When the company was founded more than 14 years ago, our focus was on improving system dynamics of industrial and military systems and processes with emphasis on manufacturing and processing of rolled sheet metal and sheet paper product. Since that time, we have gathered a great deal of knowledge and experience working across multiple industries and with different technologies. Recently, we paused to take a look at where we stood as a company. While we liked what we saw, we recognized that it was time to take another step forward. We realized that we still have much potential to be revealed, and we plan to maximize this ability by helping more companies with unique problems, finding new partnerships to extend our capabilities, and by showcasing our company as a great place to work.

  3. What is the significance of the Etegent name?
  4. Etegent is a Latin word that means ”revealing that which is hidden.” Like the word, our focus has always been on helping our customers better understand the true, often hidden potential behind their own products and services. As a company, we have remained relatively under the radar despite having dozens of well-known, satisfied customers; a talented group of researchers and engineers; and a long list of innovations and patents. The Etegent name not only emphasizes our focus for our customers, it also represents the image that we want to continue moving forward.

  5. Are you merging with another company or being acquired?
  6. No. Etegent is just the new name of SDL.

  7. Does the name change coincide with any management changes?
  8. No. Tom and Stu are still the principals of Etegent, and our experienced staff of researchers and engineers remains intact. In fact, we are looking for talented people to join us, and anticipate that furthering our marketing efforts will result in more opportunities to grow our team.

  9. How will this name change impact customers?
  10. It won’t. In fact, our customers should not notice any change to their direct contacts at Etegent or their support teams. For us, it is business as usual, except we are now Etegent. We do want to take this opportunity to thank you, our customers and partners, for their business support and hope that you will take the opportunity to share our news and celebrate this name change with us.

  11. Are there other changes taking place at the company?
  12. In conjunction with our name change, we are also launched this new web site. The site showcases our new logo and provides up-to-date information on who we are, what we have done these past 14+ years, and how we can help more companies and organizations with their technology challenges. We look forward to your feedback on the site, and invite your comments and questions at info@etegent.com.

  13. How should I communicate with Etegent employees?
  14. You may continue to use the same phone numbers and email addresses for Etegent employees. Over the next several weeks, you will notice the email addresses change from <First Initial Last Name>@sdltd.com to <First Name.Last Name>@etegent.com. We encourage you to update your contacts database with our new email address.

  15. Is the company changing addresses?
  16. No, our address will remain 1775 Mentor Ave., Suite #302, Cincinnati, OH 45212

  17. I am an SDL/Etegent customer. Should payments be made to Etegent or SDL?
  18. Customers should begin remitting payments to Etegent Technologies, Ltd. beginning as soon as possible. While we can continue to accept payments to SDL, we recommend making the change to your accounting system beginning now.

  19. Is Etegent's small business status changing?

No. Our company still employs fewer than 500 individuals, so we will retain our small business status.
