Research Scientist/Engineer

(Cincinnati, OH)

Etegent Technologies is a dynamic and growing high-tech development company with headquarters located in Cincinnati, OH and an office located in Dayton, OH near Wright-Patterson AFB. Etegent employs a talented and multi-disciplinary group of engineers with varying levels of education and experience in order to effectively deliver technology solutions that pragmatically solve the needs and challenges of our customers.

Etegent is seeking to add a research engineer/scientist to its engineering team to work on the NLign Analytics software application. NLign software currently supports military maintenance organizations and large commercial aircraft manufacturers to improve aircraft reliability, increase production rates and reduce both manufacturing and maintenance cost. The application is fundamentally changing the way organizations use inspection, maintenance and manufacturing data. As a research engineer/scientist working on the NLign application you will have the opportunity to engage with the full software development lifecycle:  from designing and developing new algorithms to address the needs and challenges of our customers, to implementing newly developed capabilities into the production software product. You will focus on developing and implementing state of the art techniques in the following areas:

  • Image Processing
  • Computer and Machine Vision
  • Machine Learning

  • Implementing and understanding state-of-the-art techniques within the image processing, computer vision, and machine learning fields.
  • Coordinate with teammates to define and implement software requirements.
  • Coordinate with teammates and users to define and write efficient, modular and well-documented software.
  • Contributing to research proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (or Bachelors with 2 years of experience or equivalent) in the fields of Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering or Applied Math.
  • Proficiency with C++, Matlab, and Python.
  • Strong mathematics background
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Track record of maintaining successful relationships with a variety of R&D customers.

The Candidate

More so than seeking a candidate with specific academic training and experience, Etegent seeks a special type of person; someone with an innate curiosity and passion for learning and understanding, tempered by a recognition of the pragmatic constraints inherent in developing real solutions to real problems. They are comfortable with abstract concepts and theory and can apply these to real-world problems. They conceive and implement fundamentally new approaches rather than just implement approaches gleaned from textbooks and technical papers. They are flexible and adaptable, having the desire and ability to learn new skills and theory in order to take on challenges outside their current realm of experience. We are seeking very sharp, capable, curious, well-rounded, adaptable people who can learn and grow as required to confront the challenges at hand. An engineer/scientist with a strong foundation in math and engineering/physics fundamentals, and a true interest in creating innovative, elegant capabilities to glean knowledge and understanding from large, diverse data sources in the DoD, IC and commercial fields will be a good fit for this position.

Salary may vary depending on qualifications of candidate.
