Etegent employs a talented and multidisciplinary group of engineers and researchers with varying levels of education and experience whodeliver elegant and pragmatic technology solutions to our customers.

Etegent is seeking a Research Scientist/Engineer to work in a team environment with Etegent colleagues,customers and research partners to help develop and transition new analysis capabilities for DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. This position can be based in either the Cincinnati or Dayton offices.

The Candidate

More so than seeking a candidate with specific academic training and experience, Etegent seeks a
special type of person; someone with an innate curiosity and passion for learning and understanding, tempered by a recognition of the pragmatic constraints inherent in developing real solutions to real problems. They are comfortable with abstract concepts and theory and can apply these to real-world
problems. They conceive and implement fundamentally new approaches rather than just implement
approaches gleaned from textbooks and technical papers. They are flexible and adaptable, having the desire and ability to learn new skills and theory in order to take on challenges outside their current realm of experience.

We are seeking very sharp, capable, curious, well-rounded, adaptable people who can learn and grow as required to confront the challenges at hand. An engineer/scientist with an advanced degree (MS or PhD) or demonstration of equivalent capability, a strong foundation in math and engineering/physics fundamentals, and a true interest in creating innovative, elegant capabilities to glean knowledge and understanding from large, diverse data sources in the DoD, IC and commercial fields will be a good fit for this position.

Activities and Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with customers and the Etegent team to conceive, define and implement innovative solutions to efficiently derive knowledge from large, diverse IC data sets.
  • Implement efficient signal/image/data processing techniques and information visualization solutions appropriate for a range of IC data types, applications and missions.
  • Coordinate with teammates and users to instantiate new analysis capabilities in well-documentedsoftware prototypes that can be refined and matured by computer scientists.
  • Assist in monitoring and directing project schedules, resources and costs.

Minimum Qualifications


  • PhD, MS, or BS in the fields of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Math or a
  • related field.
  • Proficiency with contemporary engineering/R&D computer tools.
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with remote sensing data and related analysis products for radar, HSI, LIDAR,SIGINT, GMTI, PIR and others.
  • Experience developing and transitioning data analysis and visualization capabilities for DoD and IC customers.
  • Familiarity with AFRL, NASIC and other DoD/IC organizations and programs.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, Java, C/C++, and parallel processing.
  • Track record of maintaining successful relationships with a variety of R&D customers.
  • History of technical presentations and publications in relevant fields. Existing security clearance.
