Airworthiness, CBM and HUMS Specialist Meeting, Feb 2013

Here is an except from his presentation

"Etegent's waveguide vibration sensor enables superior defect signal detectability for turbine engin main shaft bearings because it transmits the vibration energy from the bearing mounting location to the engine exterior where the piezoelectric element is located.  Since the waveguide itslf is a robust metallic device it is expected to last the life of the engine - the piezoelectric element is mounted ouside the engine where it is serviceable.  Results were shown from tow seeded defect tests: a T63 engine and Rolls-Royce 501-KB5+ engine.  The waveguide was shown to provide more that 3x better defect detectablility than the best case mounted accelerameter."
